A metà degli anni '20, New York adottò lo stile Art Déco, nato a Parigi con l'Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes del 1925, da cui prende il nome. Questo stile, caratterizzato da forme geometriche, materiali lussuosi e audaci ornamenti, divenne prominente nell'architettura della città, in particolare nei suoi iconici grattacieli. Rompendo con molte convenzioni architettoniche tradizionali e caratterizzato da verticalità, ornamenti e materiali da costruzione come plastica, metallo e terracotta, l’Art Déco si ritrova in edifici governativi, progetti commerciali e residenziali in tutti e cinque i distretti della città.

Nacquero in quest'epoca: il Chrysler Building, l'Empire State Building, il Rockefeller Center, il Waldorf-Astoria, One Wall Street.

In the mid-1920s, New York adopted the Art Deco style, which originated in Paris with the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, from which it takes its name.

This style, characterized by geometric shapes, luxurious materials, and bold ornamentation, became prominent in the city's architecture, particularly in its iconic skyscrapers. Breaking with many traditional architectural conventions and characterized by verticality, ornamentation, and building materials such as plastic, metal, and terracotta, Art Deco can be found in government buildings, commercial projects, and residential buildings throughout the city's five boroughs.
